How cool is this? Super fun project from beginning to end because we worked closely with dear friends. From Deb Anderson of the Alzheimer’s Association, Virginia Vaughn from Original Pattern Brewing Co.,to Anne Gelhaus of Mercury News. It’s all about community and this project exemplifies love and giving back. Cheers!

She's back on Tuesday, April 6. We're super excited to have Jillian return to the land of Taps. Now this is a reason to Cheers! 🍻 See you Tuesday.
Congratulations Santa Clara County for getting to the Orange Tier. We’re moving in the right direction. Now, what does this mean for Taplands? Short answer is very little. As of October 14, we will no longer require a kitchen item be ordered with your beer. As far as inside seating, well, that’s a little more challenging. In normal times, max capacity is 44, which means now we could allow 11 people inside. But after carefully reading the rules, it just doesn’t make any sense - (tables must be 10 feet apart, parties must be from the same household, guest documentation for contract tracing, and no bar seating). So, for the time being, we will not be serving folks inside. We eagerly await the day we can serve our customers inside, especially at the bar. Cheers!
Another day - another state announcement. What does it all mean for Taplands? Short answer is nothing has changed. We remain open.
In addition to being a small brewery and taproom (aka brewpub), Taplands is a bona fide eating establishment per the County of Santa Clara.
Before we opened our patio on June 5, we read, agreed to and implemented the County rules. Our twelve outdoor tables are six feet apart from one another or have plastic barriers between them. We enforce mask wearing. We don't have paper menus - only digital versions. We have a host/serve model so that people go directly to their table and don’t get up from it unless to leave or go to the bathroom. Customers are not allowed inside unless walking to and from the bathroom with a mask. We clean and clean and clean and wash our hands and then follow up with anti-bacterial gel excessively. We take the team’s temperature before every shift. The list goes on.
In a nutshell, we take this shit seriously. We hope to see you soon!
We’ve extended our hours even more! Tuesday thru Thursday we are open for TO GO ORDERS and OUTDOOR SERVICE from 3pm to 9pm. For table reservations, email shannon@taplands.com. (We’re still researching online reservations systems.) We plan to announce our new weekend hours tomorrow. Cheers!
Taplands is opening our patio area starting this Friday and Saturday from noon to 8. We are very excited and look forward to serving our amazing community once again. Please be aware that in order to comply with county ordinances and to help keep everyone healthy and happy, we have implemented some new processes.
MARCH 31 UPDATE
We are truly humbled by the love and support we’re getting from our amazing customers - near and far! This situation sucks but seeing folks on the weekends and being able to make eye contact and possibly exchange a few words with you (from six feet away outside) is helping us get thru it.
We expanded our taproom hours to include Friday. We still prefer that you order online ahead of time so that we can prep your order, have it ready and bring to you outside. At this time, we’re not refilling vessels but we are able to fill any of our draft beers in 32oz aluminum cans (aka crowlers).
See you Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Cheers and Stay Safe!
MARCH 24 UPDATE
As you know, on Monday March 16, we had to close our taproom. This caused a lot of uncertainty and confusion. We spent the first part of last week getting our daughter safely home from college, gearing up for shelter-in-place and talking to our staff about next steps. Then we turned our focus to our customers. By the end of last week, our canning machine was set up and our new online ordering system was ready to sell Taplands beers. Then on Friday - ABC changed the law allowing us to sell any beer to go. This was huge. We pivoted to include crowlers and growlers of all our beer on tap. On Saturday, our amazing beer community showed up and we were so grateful. We ran out of crowlers and growlers that day! So, on Sunday, we only refilled growlers.
WHAT’S NEXT?
We found more 32oz glass growlers. Our online ordering system is updated and we will be open this weekend - Saturday, March 28 - Sunday, March 29. We’ve ordered more cans and they are supposed to arrive later this week. As soon as they do, we will turn on the pre-filled crowler option to our online system. However, for health and safety reasons, we have decided to NOT refill growlers. We will only offer pre-filled crowlers/growlers. This decision did not come lightly but because of the risk of COVID-19 contamination, we feel this is best for everyone at this time. We hope you understand.
See you this weekend. Cheers!

March 14, 2020 - Due to the order of the Health Officer of the County of Santa Clara on Friday, March 13 regarding COVID-19, Taplands must limit the number of people who can be INSIDE to accommodate social distancing, allowing customers to stand or sit at least six feet from any other customer.
This means we will only be allowing 25 people maximum inside at any time.
We do have a patio which provides an open air environment with plenty of space and the order does not apply to outside but we strongly encourage people to respect others and provide social distancing outside as well.
We know it sucks for everyone right now but these measures will help stem the spike in transmissions. We look forward to life getting back to normal. The order ends at midnight on Saturday, April 5.
March 8 was International Women’s Day. On Friday March 6, Strike Brewing hosted a brewing day with several women who work in the Bay Area brewing industry. The women, led by Strike Brewer Alayna Mills, made a double NE IPA called Girl Beer. Taplands will be pouring it when it’s finished. In the meantime, here is a short 2 minute video documenting the brew day. Enjoy.
